How Affirm The Word Literary Was Born

I started my business in an unexpected way, driven by my personal journey during the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a simple journal of affirmations, scripture, and prayers ended up turning into something much bigger—a full-fledged company that I never could have imagined.

Back in early 2022, when New York City required employees to return to the office, I was a divorced, single mom balancing work and caring for my daughter. After a chaotic pre-pandemic life with her split between two households, gaining full custody brought us much-needed peace. I was determined to maintain that stability and support her academic growth, which led to a life-changing decision: I walked away from my six-figure career.

As I started downsizing to transition out of my city job, I began sharing affirmations from my journal with customer service reps I’d interact with—many of whom seemed overwhelmed and anxious. It hit me: I wasn’t alone. So many women were struggling with similar challenges.

I realized that while women are often aware of the importance of mental wellness and spiritual growth, there just weren’t enough accessible, faith-based resources that resonated with their beliefs. Some felt they couldn't afford or find clinical mental health services. Especially when therapist were so in-demand and overwhelmed. Yet, they needed discreet, affordable, faith-centered resources that addressed their emotional and spiritual needs in a way that felt real and personal.

After releasing our first journal and seeing the positive impact it had on women across the country, I knew I had to do more. And that’s when Affirm The Word Literary was born—a way to expand our offerings and meet the needs of women searching for tools to support their emotional, mental, and spiritual growth.

In looking back, I see how God took something so small—a simple book—and turned it into an opportunity to serve others. It’s amazing how one step of faith can open the door to something far greater than we ever expected.
